2014 - emperumAnAr uthsavam day 9

On this day, emperumAnAr is majestically seated in a beautiful ratham (chariot) in the morning. It is a great sight to behold in our eyes. Thousands of people from nearby villages arrive in the morning and pour into the streets. Literally, the streets are filled with many who have arrived just to worship emperumAnAr. The rathOthsavam takes place over a period of 5 hours where the chariot goes around the town and emperumAnAr blessing every one.



  • Morning
    • rathOthsavam starts around 7am. periya thirumozhi  is recited by adhyApakas in the procession. Several groups of bhAgavathas engage in wonderful bhajanais and kIrthanais on emperumAnAr.



    • ratham returns to the starting point. 
    • emperumAnAr climbs down and goes to piLLai maNdapam and stays there for the rest of the day.

  • Evening 
    • emperumAnAr thirumanjanam (around 7pm) 
    • thiruppAvai gOshti while applying thirumaN kAppu (Urdhva puNdram) to emperumAnAr.

  • Night
    • puRappAdu for emperumAnAr in pushpa pallakku (flower palanquin) with periya thirumozhi, thirukkuRunthANdagam, thirunedunthANdagam gOshti.

    • emperumAnAr returns to kaNNAdi aRai (mirror room).
    • iyal sARRu
  • Midnight
    • thiruppallANdu, kaNNinuN chiRu thAmbu, thiruvAimozhi gOshti and sARRumuRai 
    • emperumAnAr EkAntha sEvai - slow procession with glorifications back to his sannidhi
